A very quiet Cars and Coffee Aliso Viejo Aug 13th 2016 this week. There is construction (a new restaurant?) taking up a good chunk of the parking lot, or blocking at least the “spotlight” part of the parking lot, an area where many of the heavy hitters showcase their vehicles. This alone changed the vibe of our Cars and Coffee Aliso Viejo, it just didn’t feel the same. Many people weren’t in attendance also due to the Pebble Beach Concours D’elegance this week.
However, even though it felt a little smaller and perhaps a little less glamorous, both these changes are temporary and things should go back to normal in the next few weeks. Nevertheless, there were a lot of little delightful details to keep us busy, like cars with eyes, mini cars inside full-size cars, odd vehicles, a pure white poodle in a cherry red car, (They looked amazing!) and even antique costumes to go along with antique automobiles. Take a look at the gallery, we missed the poodle, though, he moved and blurred the shot!
One strange vehicle that resembled some kind of really long skate board…
So we wondered around a bit, took in the sights, said hello to the few diehards then called it. However, we did manage to get some colorful photos of the autos there and one strange vehicle that resembled some kind of really long skate board. We didn’t find out exactly what this thing was, but we’re guessing that if it’s at Cars and Coffee it probably isn’t slow and probably not for the faint of heart either!
This photographer’s favorite pic was the Mercedes kids car nestled inside it’s full sized parent. What a clever idea. Obviously, everyone in that family gets to ride in style!
The owner even created a matching helmet for it!
The guys took to the highway to attend “The Best Of France and Italy” car show on Sunday Nov 1st 2015 in Woodly Park, Van Nuys, California. They came back with a bunch of photos.., um, that were so bad I couldn’t use. Nevertheless I thought I’d post the 5 good pics as they capture some of the coolest cars ever made, including one artistic handmade newcomer based off of the Italian Piaggio, a 3 wheeled motorcycle, body wrapped in gleaming chrome. The owner even created a matching helmet for it!
The day was perfect for this laid back extremely European festa/celebration of fine French and Italian vehicles. This is a once a year event thrown by the kind folks from Autobooks-Aerobooks and I’m hearing it was one of the most attended since it’s beginning 14 years ago. Needless to say there were plenty of folks to show their cars and others to admire all the entrants with just about every make and model of Italian and French vehicles represented. Participants were allowed to come and go with said vehicles, (hence the laid back description.) and there was plenty of parking for all the spectators, which is always an important detail.
“The sleekest car there.”
While Massimo’s friend showed his 308 Ferrari, Massimo wandered the park. He was most impressed by these 3 vehicles (probably why the photos came out so well.) The Piaggio, the black and yellow Bugatti and his ultimate favorite, the Zagato. “The sleekest car there.” He felt that the design was so elegant with the graceful dip it it’s roof; there was just nothing else that compared.” Of the French cars he said; “Amazing, some of those cars I haven’t seen since I was 14.” Which in my mind literally means you’d have to had grown up in some exotic locale in Italy or France to have seen these vintage beauties as daily drivers…, sigh.
All in all The Best Of France and Italy was a fantastic day for car lovers of all kinds and the extraordinary techs who love to work on them and next year it will be the “guys” and the gal in attendance.
We got up early this morning to attend the Cars and Coffee in Alisa Viejo, and boy was it a blast! We brought a Ferrari work in progress to show, but were surprised that almost every vehicle imagined was represented, from Fiat 500 to Rolls Royce! People were laid back and friendly as they sipped coffee and chatted about of course, cars, theirs and others. All the makes and models presented a perfect photo opportunity so we snapped quite a few shots; a riot of color and shape. We’ve uploaded what we saw, including our artistic attempts, so you could see them too! We love Cars and Coffee event in Aliso Viejo, (and anywhere else for that matter,) what a seriously cool way to spend a leisurely Saturday morning!
